Thank you to everyone who completed the consultation. 

A number of recurring questions and suggestions have been raised. 

✅ Community Space: The proposed facility includes a community room which could be used for youth activities, community groups, workshops, wellbeing sessions and other activities identified through the consultation.

✅ Public Toilets: Public toilets are included within the project and will be managed by Angmering Parish Council.

✅ Youth Provision: Many respondents highlighted the need for more facilities and opportunities for teenagers and young people. The community space has been designed to help support youth activities alongside wider community use.

✅ Bike Racks: Bike racks are likely to be included within the final design following feedback received through the consultation.

✅ Water Bottle Refill Station: A water bottle refill point has been requested by many residents and is being considered as part of the final design.

✅ Dog-Friendly Facilities: Dog-friendly facilities were one of the recurring requests and will be considered as part of the final design and future café operation.

✅ CCTV and Security: Solar-powered CCTV cameras have already been funded and are planned for installation within Mayflower Park. In addition, security cameras form part of the proposed building project. This was a common concern raised by residents and is being taken seriously.

✅ Future Improvements to Mayflower Park: Alongside the café project, the Council will continue to explore further improvements to the park, including options such as:

Multi Use Games Area (MUGA)
Trim trails
Outdoor fitness equipment
Improvements to existing facilities
Additional recreational opportunities

These projects would be considered separately as part of future phases of Mayflower Park improvements.

✅ Dog Walking Space: The proposed café site is on the location of the former play area. The project would therefore not reduce existing dog walking space within Mayflower Park.

✅ Parking Concerns: Parking was one of the most frequently raised questions. These comments have been noted and will form part of ongoing project discussions.

✅ Anti-Social Behaviour: Many residents identified anti-social behaviour and vandalism as concerns. Several respondents also felt that a café, community activities, increased positive use of the park and additional CCTV could help improve perceptions of safety and increase community presence within the park.

What Happens Next?

The construction tender process has been completed and submissions are currently being evaluated. No contractor has yet been appointed and no final decision has been made. Once the evaluation process is complete, a report will be presented to Council for consideration before any contract is awarded.
