Traffic Regulation Order - Public Consultation from 19 June 2025
Angmering Village Centre - Formal Public Consultation - open 19/6/25 – 10/7/25.
Angmering Parish Council have applied for a TRO to turn the parking spaces currently listed as “parking places at any time” into “waiting limited to 1hr. No return within 2 hrs. 9am-5pm Mon-Sat”. This suggested change has been put forward as a result of comments from residents and traders.
The parish office have also received strongly worded complaints via email and in person regarding the current parking conditions and non-compliance with the times stated as well as the fact almost half the spaces have no restrictions at all. Its been stated that this is contributing to a decline in the number of people visiting the shops in the village centre.
Work has already been done with Arun District Council with regards to enforcement of the 1 hour waiting time and tickets have been issued for overstaying as well as unlawful use of the disabled bay.
All the information gathered when APC put out a survey in August 2024 accompanied our application, and their formal public consultation is the next step in the process.
There will now be a three-week statutory advertisement or ‘formal public consultation’. In addition to a notice being placed in the local paper, site notices may also be erected at the location of the proposal. Once the formal consultation period is over, a final decision on the TRO may be required by the County Council’s Assistant Director, Highways Transport and Planning. If the TRO is approved, arrangements are made for the necessary signs and road markings to be provided. A final notice will also be advertised in a local paper stating when the TRO will come into effect. In total, it may take approximately 12 months for a TRO application to proceed to implementation. It should be noted that the TRO process is a democratic process. This means that any proposal may be implemented in full, in part or declined by the Assistant Director due to objections or representations at the formal consultation stage. Please be aware that funding a proposal does not guarantee that it will be implemented any sooner, if at all.
