Nikki Hamilton-Street

Chair of Angmering Parish Council

What part of the village do you live in?

Mill Road Avenue, near the village centre.

What is your background?

I have worked with children, young people and families as a Youth Worker and Manager in West Sussex for over 25 years, most recently in the Arun area. I bring this insight gained to support decisions and advocate for facilities and resources and changes for the underrepresented parts of our community.

What made you want to become a councillor?

Because I strongly believe in localism - that decisions are best made by communities, and therefore as a Parish Councillor I can support and influence the decisions being made about our beautiful village

What do you hope to achieve in the area during your time as councillor?

We still have lots to do ! As Chair I have worked hard to deliver for our community a Council that listens.

Our annual community survey, events and individuals attending our meetings, helps us to know what Angmering needs and really wants.

I want to;

  • further develop Mayflower Park, to provide a destination for all the community to enjoy. The solar lights installed along the path in the last couple of years have ensured it is a safe route to the school, and station.
  • Continue to work with ADC to ensure sustainable development in Angmering, and that the supporting infrastructure is delivered.

I supported the implementation of our annual plan, that underpins our budget setting. We continue to have strong aspirations for our community.

Our quick, robust response to Covid, has seen us continuing to support the most vulnerable in our community, through our volunteers, collaborative projects and grants. I am determined that we will look to further this, and services from other organisations are reduced.

What are your other interests?

Anything outdoors: being taken for a walk around the area by our Springer Spaniel Idris, cycling, gardening and sailing and during the winter, skiing as many times as I can find a bargain!

I also volunteer as a Governor at The Angmering School.
