Henry King

Councillor

What part of the village do you live in?

North Angmering, Off Dappers Lane.

What is your background?

I was born and raised in Lancing, West Sussex to parents David and Shelagh King. My father, David, was an auto electrician by trade and my mother, Shelagh, was a paediatric nurse. They had seven children - yes, seven - and I am number six in the pecking order. I moved from Lancing to Tarring in 2019, with my partner, Isabella. We outgrew our home with the arrival of our black labrador, Bennie, and our first child, Hugo. We moved to Angmering in May 2024 where we look to raise our family for the long-term.

Professionally, I have worked in the funeral profession since the age of 16. I started as a casual pallbearer, before working for a funeral director in Brighton full-time between the ages of 18-23. In September 2017, I established H G King Funeral Services and have been looking after families all over Sussex.

What made you become a councillor?

It is the first time that I've lived in a village where I have an interest in being a resident, consumer and business all at the same time. I believe my business skills in other parts of the county can assist other businesses in the area. I also want to be a voice for the residents of Angmering that may have concerns, especially those younger families that I can empathise with.

What do you hope to achieve in the area during your time as a councillor?

I hope to be a voice for businesses, offering help and support. I also want to represent the young families in the area, especially those who have recently moved.

What are your other interests?

My number one interest is family. Working in a profession that means I'm readily available to work 24/7, I like to spend as much free time with my family as I can. Aside from that, I enjoy majority of sports including rugby, golf and cricket. You might catch me running around the Angmering Park with my dog, Bennie!
