Sally Taylor
Councillor
What part of the village do you live in?
I was born in Perivale, lived in Surrey for a while then moved to the south coast 26 years ago. I am happily settled in Angmering.
What is your background?
After leaving college I worked in mainly office based employment. In my early twenties I became a part time youth leader working evenings at a local youth centre. I trained in the world of health and safety and became an officer. I worked in this role for a large retailer where I also was a store trainer. From here I went back to school and trained as a practitioner, set up my own business where I visit nursing, dementia and adult disability homes as well as working in the community. I am in my 16th year now and very much enjoy my work.
What made you want to become a councillor?
After a conversation with a councillor I was invited to explore the possibility of joining the parish. I have always had an interest in planning, infrastructure and conservation. I sit in the public galleries of district council meetings to learn as much as I can so I can support and help with decisions regarding Angmering. I am particularly concerned about the situation with endless building in our village and will continue to support concerns regarding this.
What do you hope to achieve in the area during your time as councillor?
I would like to make a tangible difference to the community by supporting residents with local issues regarding planning to leisure facilities. I would like to work towards developing facilities for our youngsters in the shape of a dedicated youth centre. I aim to set up a group to help tackle overgrown areas in our village and keep them well tended.
What are your other interests?
Apart from my family I enjoy a good hike on our beautiful downs and beaches. I am a big music fan and enjoy going to gigs anything from grass roots to bigger venues. I play a bit of guitar and ukulele but not as well as I would like to! I have a love of architecture and really enjoy looking at the wonderful buildings of bygone and present times.
